Honest Kit Reviews
I've tested these kits so you don't have to. Here is how they stack up for absolute beginners.
The Woobles: Pierre the Penguin
The Verdict: Unbeatable for beginners. The "Easy Peasy" yarn doesn't fray, and the pre-started piece prevents the most common first-day frustrations.

Crochet Starter Kit (Amazon)
The Verdict: A budget-friendly way to get hooks and tools. This is a great little beginner kit, although it comes with really low quality yarn. I would strongly suggest ordering some higher quality yarn as this is way too frizzy, stringy, and difficult to work with. Likewise, the instruction manual/tutorial guide is also not very well explained and I would not call it beginner friendly.

Cookie Box Original Crochet Kit
The Verdict: A great middle-ground. Better instructions than most generic kits and includes ergonomic hooks that are very comfortable for long sessions.
